'With the official opening of Bellagente Salon Inc. nearing, salon owner and hairdresser Sasha Meyer will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for her sustainable boutique salon on Dec. 29 at 6:30 p.m.

The boutique salon, located on 207 Main St., will be opening in early January. An official opening date has yet to be determined.

"I have been doing hair for 12 years," said Meyer. "I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so I wanted to own my own business."

According to Meyer, the building she chose to be the new home of the salon was built in 1890 as Home National Bank. Meyer said she was drawn to the location of the building, the history, and the architecture.

"There is so much charm in this building," said Meyer. "I knew that I wanted something that had character."

Meyer said she always wants to make sure her clients are comfortable, by addressing all concerns her clients have about their hair and skin.

"I always put myself in the client's shoes," said Meyer. "It is more of a personal type of service, clients are not just a number. I care about them and they care about me."

Meyer said one of the unique things about her business is its close attention to sustainability. Meyer said she supports sustainability by choosing a hair and skincare line like Davines that shares her views.

Services provided at the salon include traditional haircuts, hair coloring, highlighting services along with balayage and flamboyage, facials, waxing, eyelash extensions, and organic airbrush spray tanning.

Although some salons don't require additional training after getting a hair styling license, Meyer makes sure she and her staff collectively attend educational classes every quarter to keep up with the trends in the beauty industry.
